Also referred to as turned parts or turning solutions, screw machine fittings are used by a variety of industries including defense and aerospace, automobile manufacturing, hydraulics systems, business machines, sporting goods, electronics and medical devices. They are part of a class of fabricated products referred to as precision machined products. Precision machined products are manufactured using highly automated systems, including computer controlled manufacturing equipment. A standard part can be purchased or a part may be custom-created for nearly any manufacturing or assembly need. Parts can be created in small runs or mass-produced, depending on the requirements. Screw machine products are fashioned from many different materials. Some of the most commonly used materials are brass, bronze, aluminum, steel, stainless steel and titanium. Screw machine products are also created from plastic. In the process of fabricating screw machine products, the machine shop may use grinders, heat-treatments or plating systems before a part is completed. While some machine shops have these capabilities, others send the parts out for these steps of the manufacturing process. |
