Welcome to the March 2010 Issue of The Cutting Edge
This issue of Cutting Edge is focused on quality issues within organizations and offers expert advice in how quality management can ramp up productivity as well as boost your bottom line. More and more companies, like Toyota and Boeing, are learning the hard way how vital quality is in manufacturing. It is necessary to not only adopt a commitment to quality within your organization, but also to choose suppliers that are committed as well. At Wolverine Machine Products, our focus on quality is proven by our ISO/TS 16949 Certification, vast inventory of quality assurance machines, and dedicated staff who continually improve processes to ensure that quality is built into every product.

For Good Measure
It has long been Wolverine Machine’s strategy to focus on high-quality, value-added processes in order to remain successful. For more than 7 years, Wolverine Machine has used Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMS) in addition to many other quality assurance measures. CMMs are highly accurate machines that inspect parts with tolerances of 9 microns (which is roughly 1/10th the diameter of the average human hair) and smaller.

Why pay a local company $5 for a part when the same part can be made in China for $2? Especially now through the economic downturn, more companies than ever are trying to save every penny possible to make it through to the other side. However, the realization is that the costs incurred in most outsourcing ventures overseas end up being much more than the company ever expected.

Breaking Down Barriers To Achieve Organizational Success
People may be excellent within their department and achieve many goals, however, if these goals are in conflict with other departments they can ruin the entire company. A fundamental principle of organizational effectiveness is that all parts of the company work as a team toward customer satisfaction and not for departmental achievements that may be counterproductive.
