Breaking Down Barriers To Achieve Organizational Success
People may be excellent within their department and achieve many goals, however, if these goals are in conflict with other departments they can ruin the entire company. A fundamental principle of organizational effectiveness is that all parts of the company work as a team toward customer satisfaction and not for departmental achievements that may be counterproductive. Teamwork is essential to satisfy the interests and concerns of the customer, yet the majority of today’s development projects are plagued by a lack of cooperation, a lack of involvement, conflicting objectives, and competing organizational units. Performance incentives must be based on company-wide success rather than individual or departmental success. When employees are encouraged to share information and ideas freely through departments, productivity increases and issues or problems are solved more quickly and efficiently.
At Wolverine Machine, we have found that the benefits of eliminating departmental barriers are exponential. Every employee, from president to shop worker, works together to improve processes and solve problems which has led to excellent internal communication. The knowledge sharing and collaboration at Wolverine Machine has also led to increased employee satisfaction and lower turnover. Our employees enjoy working together and sharing in the success of the company. This has made Wolverine Machine a fun and enjoyable place to work as well as a highly efficient and productive company.
Can You Solve This?
Connect all the dots using only 4 straight lines without lifting your pencil. Each line can be as long or short as you like, and a dot may be crossed more than once. Can you do it with 3? Stumped? Click here for the solution.
The solution to this puzzle can only be found by “thinking outside the box,” so to speak. Most people try to do this puzzle within the confines of the square created by the dots, however, as you can see it can only be solved by going outside of that area. Here at Wolverine Machine, we are no stranger to innovation and continually seeking ways to improve. This means that every new idea is looked at until we find the right solution. For example, when a customer needed a part waterjet cut with very tight tolerances from extremely thin material, we had to figure out a way for the water jet cutting table to handle this. We looked at every angle of the problem, coming up with numerous alternatives from all aspects of the machine. The solution was in designing and building our own fixture system that is capable of securing material less than a millimeter thick while still maintaining very tight tolerance. In addition, the Fixturing system allows for extremely quick loading and unloading. This in-house innovation could have only happened by empowering our employees to find a creative solution. Now, our customer is more than satisfied and we have greatly increased our capabilities here at Wolverine Machine.
